Stardew Valley's New Patch Add Changes Anticipated by Modders
Patch 1.5.5 to Stardew Valley has been released. It does not introduce new content, but implements changes that will pay off for years.
- Switching from XNA to open-source MonoGame, which secures the game's future;
- Improvements for modders;
- Mods using over 4 GB of RAM;
- Controls fixes, including the ability to chase away animals when they block our space, e.g. under a building.
Anew update for the agricultural RPG Stardew Valley has been released. It is available exclusively on PC. According to the game's creator, Eric Barone, this is a modest patch, but it should actually have a big impact on the future of the game.
The patch was marked with the number 1.5.5 and switches the game from official XNA tools to their open-source successor called MonoGame. In practice it secures the future of Stardew Valley as XNA has been abandoned by Microsoft eight years ago. In addition, thanks to this change modders will finally be able to make use of more than 4 GB of RAM. Eric Barone has also implemented a number of changes to the game to make it easier for modders.
What's more, update 1.5.5 improves the interface, enabling us to buy and craft 25 items simultaneously by holding CTRL Shift. The developer has also added the option to push away animals, when they block the place on which we want to place a building. The game also offers an option to buy back mistakenly sold items, as long as we do it within the same stay in the shop.
Patch 1.5.5 also fixes a number of bugs, glitches and problems with localizations.
Eric Barone also announced that Patch 1.5.6 is already in development and will bring more improvements for modders. He did not reveal any details, but promised that they will include big changes, which the modding community has been asking for a very long time.
