We have learned the release date for Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster, a refreshed version of the well-known FPS. Owners of consoles and PCs will get the title next year.
Star Wars fans can slowly get ready for the release of the remaster of the FPS Star Wars: Dark Forces. Nightdive, the studio responsible for this refresh, revealed its exact debut date in a press release. The project will be released on February 28, 2024 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch consoles, as well as PCs (via GameSpot).
The developers have not released any new footage, including at least a trailer, so if you want to see what the refresh will look like, take a look at the game's August reveal video (below).
Original Star Wars: Dark Forces was released in 1995 on PC and a year later on PS1. Devs at Nightdive are preparing the remaster to be adapted to new devices, so it will be playable at up to 4K resolution at 120 frames per second. In addition, lighting and textures will be improved, and on PC the game will support controllers.
Although Dark Forces does not count as part of the Star Wars canon, the story presented in the game may be of interest to fans of the universe. The player takes on the role of Kyle Katarn, a former soldier of the Galactic Empire, who now helps the Rebels. The protagonist discovers the Dark Trooper project, which can strengthen the enemy organization supervised by Darth Vader.
In the remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces you will be able to complete all 14 levels from the original, where you will have to fight enemies and solve environmental puzzles. Playing as Kyle Katarn, we will receive at our disposal not only firearms, but also various gadgets and reinforcements.
For now, we do not know how much we will have to pay for Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster.
