Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is a remastered version of Star Wars: Dark Forces, an FPS released in 1995 on the PC, and a year later on the PlayStation. It was developed by Nightdive Studios, who specialize in remasters.

Plot

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is set in the Star Wars universe. Its protagonist is Kyle Katarn, former Imperial soldier, current mercenary. At the moment he's working together with the Rebel Alliance, stealing the plans of the Death Star, a powerful battle station. A year later, he receives another job; discover the secrets of the Dark Trooper project and stop it, before it turns the tide of war in the Empire's favor.

Mechanics

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is a first-person shooter. The game is divided into missions set in various locations of the Star Wars world, such as the interior of a Star Destroyer, Jabba the Hutt's yacht or the planet Coruscant. We must explore these areas and fight hordes of enemies, using a wide roster of futuristic weaponry. Each weapon has two firing modes, while progressing through the game rewards us with various upgrades. We can also use handy gadgets, such as a head torch to light up dark areas, special boots to walk on ice in, and oxygen masks. There are also environmental puzzles to solve and platforming sections to overcome.

Technical aspects

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster runs on Nigthdive Studios' proprietary KEX Engine. The game features refreshed visuals, supports 4K resolution and 120 FPS.
