STALKER 2 Without Character Customization
According to information posted on the official Discord channel of STALKER, the upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will lack character customization. However, it may appear in an additional game module.
Last March, GSC Game World presented a video from behind the scenes of work on the sequel to STALKER. It showed off special tools that will give each NPC in the game unique teeth.
Since then, many have begun to wonder if this means that we will get the option to customize the appearance of Skif, the game's main protagonist.
It looks like there's only one Skif
On the official Discord channel of STALKER a user going by the handle "cherkov" asked developers such a question:
"Has the idea of character personalization been abandoned since Skif was presented? Or will we be able to modify our protagonist's appearance beyond his name?
We can't let all this character customization technology go to waste."
GSC representative "Mol1t" answered to this question:
"It will not be possible to customize the protagonist's appearance."
What about multiplayer?
Cherkov then asked another question, this time about the multiplayer mode, which is to be implemented only after the game's release:
"Does this mean character customization is out of the question? Wait, wait, what about multiplayer?"
To which Mol1t replied:
"There's no way to do that in story mode."
Summary
The game's official Discord server was blocked shortly after the conflict began. A few days ago, however, the "ask_gsc" channel was went back live, where users can ask questions to company representatives.
- Other channels are expected to be reopened soon.
Personalization and mods
It's quite likely that after the release of the game many fan-made modifications will appear, enabling us to change Skif's hairstyle, his eyes or the aforementioned teeth.
- Even without mods, however, players will still be able to stand out from the crowd thanks to the many pieces of armor and clothing available in the game.
- It is possible that in multiplayer mode we will be able to create our own stalker.
Heart of Chornobyl remains on hold
It is worth remembering that the work on Heart of Chornobyl remains on hold. However, rumors say that part of the studio plans to to move to the Czech Republic, where allegedly the production is to be completed. The sale of GSC's games has been suspended on the territory of Russia.
- Current release date of Heart of Chornobyl is not known. The game will be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S (assuming if it will be completed). The title is expected to simultaneously launch in Game Pass subscription.
