STALKER 2 not for PS5 for now. Devs focus on improving PC and Xbox Series X/S versions
Studio GSC Game World confirmed that there are currently no plans to port S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl to the PlayStation 5.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was one of the best games at the end of the year. The title is only available on PC and Xbox Series X/S. It appears that this will remain the case, at least for the foreseeable future.
- This information comes from an interview that Ievgen Grygorovych from GSC Game World studio gave to Tech4Gamers.
- Grygorovych stated that currently, the studio isn't working on porting S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl for other consoles. The team is solely focused on developing PC and Xbox Series X/S versions.
- The Tech4Gamers editor attempted to find out if the absence of a PlayStation 5 version is due to an exclusivity deal with Microsoft, but Grygorovych declined to respond to this question.
Of course, this is just the situation for today. It's possible that in the future, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be available on other consoles, but it won't happen anytime soon. Some time ago, the devs confirmed that there are plans for two expansions to the game. Therefore, it wouldn't surprise us if the game launched on PS5 only after its release, as a package including the base version and the DLC.
This creates an interesting situation. At present, Microsoft is more frequently launching its own games on PS5 (for instance, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 in the spring of 2025). So, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is quite a rare case of a new console exclusive for the Xbox Series X/S.
Let's remind that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released on November 20th. Since its launch, the game is also available in the Game Pass subscription, both on PC and on Xbox Series S/X.
