STALKER 2 Devs Lift Ban on Steam User Who Accused Them of Lying in Official System Requirements
One player accused the developers of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 of failing to include upscaling in the system requirements, blamed them for lying, and received a ban as a result. The studio was quick to respond.
A few days before the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornoby, there was some confusion among the game's community. The reason was the banning of one of the Steam forum users for a post about system requirements.
Ban out of nowhere...
The situation was brought to light, among other places, on the /pcgaming subreddit. In the published post, we can find a screenshot with information about receiving a ban for a post posted on the discussion forum for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on Steam. The entry referred to the system requirements, which - in the opinion of the message's author - misled the players.
He pointed out that achieving the number of FPS indicated by the developers will require the use of upscaling technology such as DLSS, which wasn't mentioned in the official information but was only communicated on the series' official Discord server. He therefore believes that the studio directly lied to the players and the game won't run smoothly at the indicated native resolutions.
Shortly after posting the post, the user was banned from the forum for "spreading false information about the company." Some players indicated that the real reason for the ban wasn't highlighting the issue, but calling the devs liars and accusing them of wanting to "steal money."
...and a quick unban
Fortunately, the matter was quickly resolved thanks to Intervention of GSC Game World. The studio apologized for the confusion and conveyed that the ban was unjustly imposed by one of the moderators, but it has now been lifted. However, they didn't address the main topic of the post.
Guys, we are so sorry about that situation. Our new moderator provided this ban. He made a mistake with this topic. Before the release, we recruited an additional team of moderators to help us, but this does not remove responsibility.
We have removed the ban already.
Interestingly, if we look at the game's card on Steam, we can find information about the use of upscaling in the system requirements section. However, it's worth noting that there is no mention of this in the official post published a few days ago. So it's possible that the devs only updated the page in the Valve store later.
Presentation of artifacts
It's worth mentioning that an entry appeared on Steam regarding artifacts that we will be able to find in the Zone. These are extremely valuable items that we will sell or use for our own purposes. There will be dozens of them in the game, and the developers have introduced a few of them.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released on November 20 on PC and Xbox Series X/S. On the day of the premiere, the game will be available in the Game Pass subscription.
