Postapo comes in different flavors. We have a more colorful, Western vision, and dark and depressing Eastern. Often, the latter involves Chernobyl catastrophe in some way. This place is also where the Stalker series revolves around. With war ongoing in Ukraine, where most of the GSC Game World studio was located, it is all but unexpected that there are delays when it comes to the sequel of the aforementioned series, entitled Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. However, the game will be released at some point, and it is supposed to hit only PC and Xbox, entirely missing PS5. Or is it? There is a spark of hope, which lets us think that the PlayStation version will actually happen.

Stalker 2 PS5 release explained

The initial information was that Stalker 2 Heart of Chernobyl won’t be released on PS5 at all. This can be related to GSC deal with Microsoft for exclusivity. However, it was quickly discovered that said agreement will be binding only for 3 months. Does it mean that we can expect PS5 version of Stalker 2 early in 2025? Not necessarily.

Even though PlayStation takes most of the contemporary console market, it doesn’t mean that the game will be released to that platform as soon as possible. Since the title is set in eastern Europe in this specific setting’s atmosphere, it is mostly directed towards audiences acquainted with the region’s culture. In this part of the world, PC is still a very popular device.

This doesn’t mean, though, that the PS5 version will never happen. We can assume that at some point the creators from GSC will tackle porting Stalker 2 to PS5. Most probably it will happen after the game finally launches, which will be already a success, considering multiple delays it suffered. We have to remember that even after the premiere, the devs will most likely focus on patches, fixes and updates, and only after the dust settles, exploring wider markets will become feasible.

Let’s hope that GSC will deliver on their promises. If you can’t wait for it, you can check out the most recent 30-minute gameplay trailer.
