Splinter Cell Meets Metal Gear Solid in This Dark F2P Stealth Game
Developer Antonio Freyre is working on the promising stealth game called No Sun To Worship, which will combine the mechanics of the Splinter Cell series with first PlayStation-era visuals.
For some time now, visual styles modeled after the first-generation PlayStation have become increasingly popular among small indie developers betting on retro games. One of the most interesting examples of this is likely to turn out to be the stealth game No Sun To Worship.
- The game is heading exclusively for PC.
- For now, no planned release date has been announced.
- On Itch.io you can download a test alpha version. It is very early and does not offer all the features that can already be seen in the video below. Nevertheless, the demo still gives a good idea of what the project will offer in terms of gameplay and setting.
The game is being developed by Antonio Freyre. He previously developed the excellent Undetected, which was modeled on the first Metal Gear Solid. No Sun To Worship will also be a stealth game, but its MGS inspirations will mainly appear in the visuals, as this time in terms of gameplay the creator was inspired by the early installments of Splinter Cell.
So we will get a TPP view, in which the camera will be placed behind the character's back. During the game we will deal mainly with sneaking and silent elimination of enemies. Destroying light sources will prove helpful.
Enemies are supposed to have very good hearing, so you will have to avoid walking on noisy surfaces when enemies are nearby. However, even staying still will generate quiet noises that can betray our location to nearby opponents. The player will be given the ability to activate complete immobility, however, which is expected to slowly eat up their health bar.
The game is expected to place great emphasis on narrative. The game's action will be set in a post-apocalyptic future, in which humanity has brought about the collapse of its own civilization. The player will take on the role of an agent whose task will be to execute those guilty of this state of affairs.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the system requirements of the game. For now, only the minimum specs have been revealed. As befits a retro game, they are low.
