Sony Sold Over 4.2 Million Units of PlayStation VR.
Sony sold more than 4.2 million PlayStation VR devices, according to a post published on the official company blog. This means that 1.2 million users have bought the device within the last 7 months.
On the occasion of yesterday's State of Play live stream, Sony posted an entry on the US PlayStation blog, devoted to upcoming games intended for the PlayStation VR device. The post also reveals that PlayStation VR sold more than 4.2 million units worldwide (as of March 3, 2019). This means that Sony has delivered 1.2 million devices to users in the last 7 months. This can be estimated on the basis of data from August last year, when the Japanese giant boasted that PS VR has already been bought by 3 million people.
Let's remind that PlayStation VR was launched in October 2016. While the sales of the device still pale in comparison to the number of consoles that are delivered to users every year, Sony continues the development of the device and tries to convince customers to have fun in virtual reality. The best example of this are other games dedicated to PS VR owners. The loudest of them will probably be Iron Man VR, which will enable the players to play as the eponymous superhero. Users will also receive No Man's Sky Beyond - a large update to the game, which will introduce, among other things, VR support.
