PlayStation VR 2 Launch Possibly Later Than Expected
As it turns out, Sony is still in talks with Tobii AB to provide one of its PlayStation VR 2 goggle technologies.
Official presentation of PlayStation VR 2 is long behind us, but Sony still has not given a release date for its new virtual reality headset. It is possible that it will not happen this year, as claimed by some.
Sony is still negotiating with the supplier of eye tracking technology. The company in question is Tobii AB, which specialises in cameras using such a solution and intended for PC users. It was this manufacturer that revealed information about the ongoing talks with Sony.
More for You:
Leaks from January mentioned that the second PlayStation VR could be released later this year. However, an announcement from Tobii AB suggests that this is an overly optimistic scenario. Since Sony is still negotiating on one of the key components of the device, it's unlikely we will see an imminent start of production.
Of course, everything boils down to whether the "technology" referenced by Tobii AB includes components or only software. In the latter case, work on hardware may be much more advanced. Either way - we'll have to wait a little longer for new goggles from Sony.
