What's Bugging Sons of the Forest?
Sons of the Forest recorded an extremely successful launch in Early Access. However, if the devs from Endnight Games want to maintain play interest in the game, they will have to release an update soon that will fix the numerous problems and bugs plaguing the game.
Yesterday, Steam's Early Access saw the debut of Sons of the Forest - the much-anticipated survival action game. The game was exceptionally warmly received by players (89% positive votes out of 11,322 opinions on Steam), and the huge interest in the game in the first hours after its debut for "shocked" even the servers of Steam for a while.
List of problems
Sons of the Forest - despite a very warm reception and insane popularity - as befits an Early Access title, is struggling with a number of glitches and problems. The list of issues plaguing the game is long.
- The game sometimes does not detect the connected controller.
- There are numerous problems with textures - long loading times or complete lack of them.
- The title has problems with the soundtrack (complete absence or its "skipping").
- Loading screen stutters or completely freezes.
- General stuttering, lags and freezing.
- Problems with maintaining stable framerate, large fps drops.
- Absurd visual glitches.
- Problems with water physics.
- Lack of hotkeys.
Fortunately, some of the above-mentioned problems can be circumvented quite easily. Helpful in this regard are the threads (single player and multiplayer) on Steam forum, where players report known bugs and suggest solutions. What's also where, in turn, users share their thoughts and ideas, including changes, new features and content.
We will have to wait for the rest of the fixes until the developer releases the first major update. This will happen in 13 days. In the meantime, the studio has released the first hotfix, which gets rid of two minor issues.
Funny bugs
In addition to annoying bugs and technical issues, there are, as usual, funny cases in the game. Some of them not only look absurd, but can affect gameplay.
A mine of such gliches, as usual, is the game's subreddit, where users of the community share the absurdities they encountered while playing Sons of the Forest.
As an example, let's use here a post by user OrangePanini50, who - by accident, of course - decided to take a lightning-fast way down from the top of a mountain. Speeding the player traveled hundreds of meters down in a few seconds, without sustaining any injuries.
The absolute fan favorite among Sons of the Forest players, when it comes to various graphical glitches, however, is water, or more specifically, its physics. The moment an object falls into it, such as a tree, the water instantly "spits" it up, like a volcano erupting with lava. Just watch.
Of course, we will find many more such funny gizmos in the game. However, it's worth bearing in mind that the game has just debuted in Early Access - the road to the full version will be long and probably strewn with numerous patches and fixes.
