Kelvin and Virginia Development in Sons of the Forest
After the success achieved by Sons of the Forest, developers from Endnight Games do not intend to be idle. The developers have presented fans with a roadmap for the survival horror game.
Sons of the Forest is one of the biggest launches of this year. Despite the fact that Endnight Games' work is only available in early access for now, in just 24 hours it found more than 2 million buyers. The colossal success of the survival horror game, however, does not slow down the developers from expanding it further. The studio has released a video (available below), in which the developers answer the most frequently asked questions, and thus shed some more light on the future of Sons of the Forest.
Kelvin - more work
The main elements that Endnight Games will be taking on are the characters of Kelvin and Virginia. From the video above, we learn that AI of our companions will be improved, among other things. In addition, the former will receive completely new tasks to perform. Thus, it will be quite a change for him after demolitions and tree felling.
"We plan to add new tasks that Kelvin will be able to perform. Some ideas in the pipeline are to enable him to build a wall around the base or fortify/repair the headquarters if necessary".
Virginia - more courage
On the other hand, the easily-startled Virginia will be given more courage when she comes face to face with the enemies.
"In the case of Virginia, we plan to expand her AI, especially in the realm of courage if she has a weapon, and also depending on the number of mutants/cannibals killed.".
Additional content and crackdown on malicious players
The developers also mentioned the addition of new stories and cutscenes, which will enrich the game's main storyline.
In addition, they assured that they are not deaf to the problem of killing AI by players who enter other people's sessions. Endnight Games is already working on a solution to curb such actions.
The developers also plan to create dedicated servers for Sons of the Forest.
The first major update to Sons of the Forest will be released on March 9. It is possible that some of the described changes will be implemented already in this patch. Finally, we remind you that the game is available exclusively on PC. The developers anticipate that early access period for Sons of the Forest will last about 6-8 months, but may be extended if necessary.
