Skyrim's Riverwood Recreated on Unreal Engine 5
Unreal Engine 5 impresses also in Skyrim. One artist decided to recreate the village of Riverwood on this engine.
Christian Gomm, artist at Myrkur Games decided to share his version of Riverwood from Skyrim, recreated on Unreal Engine 5. The result of his work was made available on ArtStation and we must admit that the project looks impressive.
In the project description Gomm also shared some details about the resources he used. The list includes photogrammetry, high quality scans and Unreal Engine assets. It took him several days to build Riverwood on the new engine, although Gomm is still adding new elements to the map.
"Almost all objects in this scene have Nanite enabled and polygon counts ranging from 100,000 to 15 million."
Nanite is a new feature in Unreal Engine 5 that enables designers to render graphics at the "micro-polygon" level. It was made available to allow for high-quality scans to be imported directly into the game world.
This isn't the first time Gomm has given a piece of Skyrim's world a second life using UE5. Some time ago, the artist also recreated the watchtower. Apart from that, new productions such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, Mass Effect 5 or Layers of Fear 3 are being created using this technology.
