The Actress who played Lynn Tanner began her career as a child model and actress, appearing in advertising projects. After her family moved to Los Angeles in 1983, Elson made her debut as a 14-year-old in the TV series Whiz Kids about a group of teenage detectives. The production aired for just one season, but it helped the young actress promote herself, so more roles came her way. They were episodic, however, and her biggest and best-known was by far the one in Alf.

She began playing the character of Lynn Tanner in 1986, and last appeared in the role in 1990, when the TV show was canceled. Over the next seven years, Elson continued her career, appearing in a wide variety of television roles, including Who's the Boss?, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Married... with Children, Mad About You.

In 1997, Andrea Elson retired from show business and focused on her family. She and her husband Scott Hopper, who also worked on Alf, have three children. In 2016, she shared that she runs a yoga studio in California. And she didn’t return to acting.
