Sea of Thieves Sold Millions of Copies on Steam

Sales of Sea of Thieves on Steam exceeded 5 million copies. The game has already been played by more than 25 million people on all hardware platforms.

Rare has boasted that sales of Sea of Thieves on Steam exceeded 5 million copies. This impressive result was achieved within 18 months - the game debuted on Valve's service on June 20, last year.

The sales of 5 million copies is all the more impressive that the PC version has been in Microsoft Store offer since 2018. What's more, it is also available in the Game Pass subscription.

This October the creators boastedthat more than 25 million people have already played Sea of Thieves. This number includes both players who bought the title on PC and consoles, as well as people playing it as part of Game Pass.

Sea of Thieves is the first game that Rare has developed with PC in mind. The studio's debut on this platform turned out to be very successful. Previously, one of the studio's game, specifically Viva Pinata, appeared on PC, but it was a port created by Climax.

To celebrate the game's success, the devs have organized a small event. Each person who logs into Sea of Thieves until December 29 will receive a free emote called All Together Now!

It is worth noting that yesterday marked the beginning of Steam Winter Sale 2021. One of the discounted games is Sea of Thieves. Until January 5 the game can be bought for less than $20, which is half the standard price.
