Jack Sparrow Attracted a Record Number of Players to Sea of Thieves
In just a little over a month after the release of the free update of Sea of Thieves, whose biggest attraction are the missions featuring characters from Pirates of the Caribbean, the creators announced that in June the game broke another activity record.
Sea of Thieves launched in March 2018, collecting unfavorable reviews from the players and critics at the time, among other things due to uninspired content and limited opportunities to play in co-op mode. Developers from Rare did not abandon their work and have been working on it for over three years now, which resulted in a series of free updates that gradually convince more and more people to give the game a chance. The last of them, titled Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life was released on June 22 and offered the fans, among other things, a completely new adventure with the characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
In the official announcement, the devs confirmed that Jack Sparrow and his companions, as well as a ton of new items and attractions that were part of Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life, attracted a record number of players. According to the developers, Sea of Thieves had a total of 4.8 million active users in June. This is a considerable feat for the title, which shortly after the release was written off by many as a total loss.
The devs of Sea of Thieves remind us that this is not the end of attractions. This weekend, the players will be able to enjoy a 100% bonus to gold and reputation points. All the time the virtual pirates can also acquire additional skins, missions and take part in limited time events that are part of the third season.
Let's add that from the launch day, Sea of Thives is available to download as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription. We can download the game for free on consoles and PC, which is certainly one of the reasons why the interest in it is so high.
