Prehistoric Tribe Builder Sapiens Appreciated by Players
Sapiens has recorded a successful debut on Steam. This project, created by a single developer, is collecting very good reviews from the players.
Sapiens, a single-player survival game in which our task is to create a prehistoric civilization, debuted in early access on Tuesday. Now, two days after the release, it can be said that the game has received a warm reception.
Sapiens appreciated by Steam users
On Steam 83% of user reviews praise Sapiens, which is categorized as a "very positive" reception.
Players praise the game's enjoyable mechanics and surprisingly high level of refinement, all the more impressive considering that a single developer, who devoted seven long years to the game, is behind the project. Those playing Sapiens also like the large scale of the map and the interestingly realized prehistoric setting.
Sample reviews by Steam users
"At this stage it is a game with great potential. (...) The best thing about it is that ut is being created by one man. If he alone can deliver a simulation game with such promise of depth, I am excited to see what he will prepare for us in the future," wrote ChaosKillerX7
"An amazingly elaborate game about early human interaction and teamwork. You start with a small group of people, whose community can be expanded through the ages as you discover new technologies. The game features a wide variety of ecosystems and a very realistically scaled planet," wrote Bonnie Bear
"For the time I have spent in the game, I am pleasantly surprised. It's fun to play, all the discoveries are intuitive and don't turn the game into boring res farming. We'll see what will happen next. For now it is ok," wrote Alaman1982
"This is the best game about tribe management of all time. The controls are intuitive, the music is outstanding, and the gameplay is satisfying," praises Lethal Chicken
Activity figures
The game didn't become a big hit out of the blue, but it's doing well on Steam. Yesterday, at the hottest time of the day Sapiens was played by 1826 concurrent users on Steam. It's worth mentioning that the population of players on the second day was larger than on the debut day, so it will be interesting to see what kind of results the title will crank out next weekend. Our reader by the handle Procne reports that the game has relatively modest content and after a few hours you can unlock all the technological discoveries. This raises the question of whether the players will not quickly get bored with the lack of novelty.
Sapiens is available exclusively on PC. Currently on Steam, the game can be purchased foraround $20. This is a special price, reduced by 10% to celebrate the release on August 8. The developer expects the early access period to last for several years.
