Sapiens is a survival RTS, in which we take care of a primitive tribe and have to develop it into a great prehistoric civilization. The special feature of the game is the large scale - the game takes place on a procedurally generated map larger than the surface of the real Earth.

Sapiens is a real-time strategy game with survival elements. The game was developed independently by Dave Frampton (author of The Blockheads and Chopper series, among others) under the banner of the one-man studio Majic Jungle.

Game mechanics

In Sapiens our task is to create our own prehistoric civilization. We start the game with a small primitive tribe. We give our charges commands, directing them, for example, to hunt mammoths, gather resources, cook, grow crops or construct buildings while playing.

The key role is to take care of our charges. We must not only ensure their survival, but also make sure they are in good humor. We teach them new skills and take care of their families.

At the beginning our tribe is very primitive, but over time this level of sophistication will begin to grow. It will discover new materials, techniques and tools, which will allow us to build more and more advanced structures. As the community grows, we will get the opportunity to create additional camps and construct networks of connections between them.

All this takes place on a procedurally generated map larger than the real Earth. The player can choose a starting region from thousands of randomly created variants, each with unique conditions, climate, resources and challenges.

Game modes

Sapiens offers a single-player mode only.

Technical aspects

The game features simple 3D graphics built on the original graphics engine. The advantages of the technology developed by him are the great scale of the game world.
