Samsung Created the Largest Curved Gaming Monitor
Here's something for gamers who like big screens - Samsung has prepared a 55-inch monstrosity. Odyssey Ark is currently the world's largest monitor with a curved matrix. It offers interesting possibilities when placed vertically.
- The Samsung Odyssey Ark has 55 inches, displays 4K resolution video, and has a handle that enables us to swivel and adjust the height.
During CES 2022 Samsung unveiled a powerful monitor with a curved matrix - larger even than the 49-inch Odyssey G9 Neo. The device is called Odyssey Ark, and its diagonal measures a whopping 55 inches. Interestingly, although the device is advertised as a gaming monitor, the company emphasizes the benefits of its vertical orientation.
Of course, it can be placed horizontally as well, because the stand has such a function. It is also possible to change the height. The matrix of Odyssey Ark offers 4K resolution and an aspect ratio of 16:9 so theoretically it should work well horizontally, e.g. as a screen for simulators. The backlight used is a Mini LED system. While Samsung hasn't revealed more details, you can expect a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms GTG response, similar to the G9 Neo.
When positioned vertically the monitor also presents some interesting capabilities. Such a large diagonal will enable us to display several screens. This may be useful for streamers - on a single monitor, they will be able to follow the image from the game, the screen from the control software and the preview of the stream. Watching it all, however, may require lifting your head, which will not be too comfortable or healthy for our neck in the long run, as noted by one of the Twitter users.
This week Samsung also unveiled a smaller monitor than the G9 Neo - the Odyssey G8 Neo. It has a diagonal of 32 inches and should be cheaper than its bigger brothers.
