Game Bug May Cost You Windows Reinstall
Microsoft Flight Simulator is not a title without flaws. One of the problems relates to the support of a certain feature in Windows OS, if it occurs, you may need to reinstall the system.
Some virtual aviation enthusiasts have quite a problem with Microsoft Flight Simulator. This simulator slows down so much that the 99% FPS indicator (see - blue box) is only 2 frames per second. Such a "slideshow" is possible even on very powerful computers, with RTX 4090 on board, as evidenced by this case from Reddit.
2 FPS in MSFS on RTX 4090
Yes, this is not a mistake. The player has a really powerful computer - a Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU, 32 GB RAM and an absolutely top-of-the-line GeForce RTX 4090. And yet the frame rate can drop to two per second when flying over a city in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Unfortunately, the most effective solution to this problem seems to involve reinstalling Windows. This is because the simulator can use the telemetry system present in the operating system. If for some reason this feature is corrupted, MSFS will also malfunction. So, if this problem occurs, the player has a choice - he either reinstall Windows, or disable the use of telemetry in the simulator, which is also possible.
The function responsible for this can be found in the options under the name "Photogrammetry". Disabling it should solve the problem, at the price of reduced accuracy in urban areas. In case of problems with MSFS it is also worth trying other soluions, such as disabling the DX12 mode, or reducing the number of terrain details. The latter option has the biggest impact on fps, so it may be worth sacrificing some visuals for better playability.
99PS: Uses the Rendered FPS schedule metric to show the 99th percentile of data. 1 frame in 100 is slower than this frame count. 99% of frames will reach at least this frame rate.
