Ryzen 3500X From AMD Provides Competition for Intel's Core i5-9400F
First tests and „unboxings” of Ryzen 3500X processor appeared on the web. It was compared with its direct competitor, Core i5-9400F from Intel, and AMD did quite well.
Ryzen 5 3500X will soon hit the store shelves, and as a result, the embargo imposed by the manufacturer is no longer in force. Subsequently, the first tests and videos of the unpacking of the product appeared in the Chinese media. We must admit that the unit looks very promising and the fact that it is to be a direct competitor of the Intel CPU Core i5-9400F, adds even more character to it.
The Ryzen 5 3500X is not the only CPU in the Ryzen 3000 series recently introduced by AMD. Both devices have six physical cores and support the same amount of threads. That makes them the first units of this type from the Ryzen 3000 series.
Ryzen 5 3500X will be the first to go on sale, and so it was the first to be tested and unboxed online. The processor has a basic clock rate of 3.6 GHz with the ability to achieve 4.1 GHz in Boost mode. Additionally, the unit is equipped with 32 MB cache memory and TDP of 65 W.
Bilibili compared the Ryzen 5 3500X with Intel's Core i5-9400F. The processors were accompanied by an MSI B450M Mortar Max motherboard with 16GB of DDR4 3000MHz RAM and a GeForce GTX 1660 6GB graphics card. In both CPU-Z and multithreaded tests, Ryzen got a better result. AMD's product also performed slightly better in a benchmark that checks the overall performance of the unit.
As far as the lag in the most popular eSports titles is concerned, the results are very similar for both CPUs. 32 MB cache does its job and gives satisfactory results.
Many games have been tested in 1080p resolution. Here are the average results in each game achieved by the Ryzen 5 3500X unit:
- PUBG - 80 FPS
- Assassin's Creed Odyssey - 65 FPS
- Shadow of The Tomb Raider - 77 FPS
- World War Z - 126 FPS
- League of Legends - 180 FPS
For such a price, the CPU's performance looks pretty good. The unit is delivered in a classic cardboard box with Wraith Stealth cooling. The processor has already appeared at one of the Chinese suppliers at the price of 1099 yuan, which in direct conversion gives us 155 dollars. Its launch can therefore be expected shortly, but we do not yet know exactly when it will take place.
