RoboCop Devs Have Eyes On Several Big IPs. They Also Revealed Rogue City Was Done in 3 Years
In an interview with Exputer, the director of RoboCop: Rogue City, Piotr Latocha, revealed some interesting facts about the game's development and Teyon studio's plans for the future.
Almost every player has already heard about the success of RoboCop: Rogue City. However, no one realizes how much hard work the creators from Teyon have put in for their game to succeed. The director, Piotr Latocha, told the editors of Exputer about the behind-the-scenes of the creation of this shooter.
- The developer revealed that striking the right gameplay balance was extremely difficult in creating this title. The devs tried to capture the clumsiness of the main character while maintaining the appropriate dynamics of shooting etc.
- The team's challenge was also to make RoboCop's iconic "splatter gun" - the Auto-9 pistol - a tool that players wouldn't get bored with after a few minutes of gamplay. Latocha emphasized that the team had many discussions on this matter.
- Considering this, it is surprising that the development cycle lasted only three years.
- Interestingly, the creators had many more ideas that they wanted to include in the game, but due to copyright laws, they were unable to do so.
- When speaking to journalists, Latocha revealed that it was never considered to have the gameplay in RoboCop: Rogue City shown from third-person perspective. The developers wanted the players to be able to "enter" the mechanized body of the protagonist.
- Latocha emphasized that, with the exception of the confirmed New Game Plus mode, at the moment Teyon is not planning any expansion to Rogue City or a sequel. However, the developer made it clear that this may change in the future.
- Of course, during the conversation, the topic of Teyon's future plans could not be missed. It turns out that it already has "a few brands in mind that it wants to work on in the future." Latocha, however, did not want to reveal the details.
RoboCop: Rogue City was released on November 2, 2023. Shortly thereafter, the game, released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, turned out to be the best premiere in the history of Nacon. The game also received a lot of positive feedback from players and industry critics.
