Resident Evil 4 Remake Sales Please Capcom
We've learned the latest sales results for Resident Evil 4 Remake. Capcom has reason to be pleased, as the refreshed adventure of Leon S. Kennedy turned out to be a great success.
Capcom has shared the sales results of its latest bestseller, Resident Evil 4 Remake. The production, which is a remake of the hit released in 2005 under the same title, found more than five million buyers. To achieve this result, the item in question needed less than four months.
It is worth recalling that in June the Japanese publisher boasted impressive sales of the entire series, which by March 31 of this year had found 142 million buyers worldwide.
- High sales of Resident Evil 4 Remake are not surprising if we consider its popularity around its debut. Just eight hours after its release on Steam it was played simultaneously by 116,000 users. Thus, it broke the record of Resident Evil Village (106 thousand people playing simultaneously), to date the most popular installment of the series on Valve's platform.
- Interestingly, apparently most of the five million players who have so far purchased Resident Evil 4 Remake, decided to buy this title around its release. The first three million copies of the game have sold within just two days of its debut.
Compared to the original, Resident Evil 4 stands out not only for its greatly improved visuals (thanks to the use of RE Engine technology), but also for its refreshed story layer and modernized mechanics. After it became clear that Capcom had another hit on its hands, the devs rolled up their sleeves and developed a free DLC called The Mercenaries; they are currently preparing an expansion for Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, which will take advantage of the PlayStation VR2's capabilities.
