Last week, another Sony PlayStation exclusive made its debut on PCs. This time PC owners received Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which originally debuted in June 2021 on PlayStation 5.

Neither bad nor good

It's been a few days since the release of the game's PC port, and it's fair to say that the performance of Insomniac Games' title is average - the number of players isn't too high, but this is compensated by good reviews.

  1. The current activity revord for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is 8757 users (via SteamDB).
  2. The game has received 1792 reviews on Steam - 85% of which are positive.
  3. This is much better ratings than those received by The Last of Us Part I at the time of its release on PC (at that time, the game from Naughty Dog faced considerable technical issues), or Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.

Unlike previous Sony exclusives ported to PC, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart looks really good and solid. Digital Foundry was even tempted to compare the game's visuals on PS5 and PC, and you have to admit that the quality of both releases is at a similar level. Probably this is one of the reasons why the title has gathered such good reviews. At the same time the web is full of somewhat different demonstrations, showing the game running on PCs with slow HDDs.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart against other Sony games

Comparing Insomniac Games' title with other Sony exclusives ported to PC, Ratchet and Clank's adventures recorded an average peak number of players within 24 hours of release. The best performance of individual games in the first 24 hours since their PC debut is as follows:

  1. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered - 60,210 simultaneous players;
  2. Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition - 56,557 players.
  3. God of War - 49,411 players;
  4. The Last of Us Part I - 36,496 players;
  5. Days Gone - 18,287 players;
  6. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales - 13,539 players;
  7. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. - 9435 players;
  8. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - 8757 players;
  9. Returnal - 5700 players;
  10. Helldivers: Dive Harder Edition - 5232 players;
  11. Sackboy: A Big Adventure - 592 players;
  12. Predator: Hunting Grounds - 283 players;
  13. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture - 65 players.

This may be a bit disappointing for Insomniac Games and Sony, but let's recall that this is only the game's PC port. The main target from the beginning was the PlayStation 5, and On this platform the game very quickly reached more than a million copies sold.

Let's point out that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart can be purchased on Steam and Epic Games Store.

On the PlayStation website Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is currently discounted by 50%. The offer is valid until August 3.
