Gorgeous 2021 PS5 Exclusive May be Next in Line for PC Porting
It looks like a port of another PlayStation exclusive, specifically Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, will soon be released on PC. Confirmation can be found in a recent job posting.
Sony's assault of PC with ports of PlayStation games continues. Last year we received conversions of such titles as God of War or Marvel's Spider-Man (complete with Miles Morales), and just around the corner is a remake of the first The Last of Us. In addition, it turns out that in the pipeline there may be a PC version of the phenomenal Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart from 2021.
Job offer a clue
This is indicated by a job offer posted a few days ago on the official website of Nixxes (it was spotted by a Reddit user). The team is looking for a person for the position of UX/UI engineer to help prepare user interfaces for upcoming AAA PC games. The key message is the one about the candidate's welcome experience with the Coherent environment, which was used in the latest Ratchet and Clank game, among others.
But why the assumption that it is precisely about a port of this game? Studio Nixxes is known primarily for its PC ports of titles from Insomniac Games, specifically from the aforementioned remasters of Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is also the work of Insomniac, so the conclusions are self-explanatory.
Sony game port release chronology
It's also worth mentioning the order in which Sony games were released on PC, which may be an additional confirmation of the upcoming port of Rift Apart. To date, most exclusive titles have been released on PCs chronologically. For example God of War debuted on the platform in January 2022, and a few months later we got the first Spider-Man - both of these games premiered on PS4 in 2018. Continuing, Returnal came out on PS5 in April 2021, and for the past month PC players have had access to the game. So the next Sony exclusive on the list is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which debuted on PS5 shortly after Returnal.
In this case, the exception to the rule would be The Last of Us: Part I. But given that this is a remake and not an entirely new game, speculation about a port of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart as one of the upcoming ones that Sony is preparing is as logical as possible. It's also a shame that somewhere along the way we lot the ports of, among others, Demon's Souls remake and Ghost of Tsushima...
