Quake Will Return in „Revitalized Edition”? Panel at QuakeCon Confirmed
Bethesda accidentally revealed some interesting information about the QuakeCon at Home event. This year's online edition of the event will include a panel talking about a „revitalized” version of Quake.
In recent months there have been rumors about the possible return of the Quake series. These rumors may have been confirmed by the schedule of this year's QuakeCon announced by Bethesda. The schedule for the event included a panel where Jerk Gustafsson from Machines Games studio was to discuss the legacy of Quake with John Linnan, but also the "additional content [...] contributed to this revitalized edition". The fragment has since been removed from the event's official website, though the panel itself (scheduled for August 20) is still on the schedule.
The word "revitalization" is extremely vague here. Yes, one could be a great optimist and already start celebrating the reboot of the series. However, the mention of "additional content" for "this edition" seems to suggest a new release of any of the previous installments. It's possible that this is actually a Doom 64-like project, originally released on the Nintendo 64 console, but minimally refreshed and released a year ago on newer platforms. The fact that the deleted description spoke of "Quake", without any numbers or subtitles, indicates that we're probably talking about the first part of the series.
Unfortunately, for now, it is impossible to say anything more about the future of the series. We can only wait for official (and undeleted) information. QuakeCon At Home starts on Thursday, August 19. We also remind you about the ongoing sale on games released by Bethesda, which will end on August 24.
