id Software May be Preparing to Announce Refreshed Quake 2
It looks like the second part of Quake will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and receive a remastered version. It can be speculated that we will see the announcement of Quake II Remastered at August's QuakeCon.
id Software may be preparing a surprise for Quake fans and at this year's QuakeCon it present a remastered version of the second installment of the series. South Korean age rating organization GRAC (Game Rating and Administration Committee) has added a highly telling item called Quake II Remastered to its database (via Gematsu). Although it has already been removed, nothing dies on the Internet, as evidenced by the screenshot below.
- A similar situation occurred in 2021, when a refreshed version of the first Quake began to receive age ratings before it was officially presented to the world.
- The announcement of the remastered Quake took place during QuakeCon 2021, and in view of the above one can speculate that this year's edition of the event, which will be held from August 10 to 13, will revolve precisely around the refreshed sequel.
- Rumors that Quake II may live to see a remastered version, are not something new. Already in 2022 fans of the series were curious about some changes regarding the game on Steam. At that time, the game received a new description, and some modifications were made to the mission pack data.
- Simultaneously, id Software explained the confusion with the desire to "merge each game under the banner of one main item and/or change the title to make purchases easier."
