Project Zomboid Will Get NPCs; Devs Reveal Roadmap
One of the developers of Project Zomboid has shared the game's roadmap. The first new feature will be NPCs.
- Chris Simpson has shared the development roadmap for Project Zomboid;
- NPCs will be added to the game first;
- Then the developers intend to develop the crafting system.
At the end of last year, Project Zomboid unexpectedly attracted crowds of players. All thanks to a significant update called Build 41 and Steam Winter Sale, so it's no wonder that developers from The Indie Stone decided to strike the iron while it's hot and revealed plans to develop the title.
Details about the game's future were revealed by the studio's managing director, Chris Simpson, in an interview with NME. Initially, the next step in the game's development was to add wildlife that could be hunted. In the end, however, an update that would introduce NPCs to the game took precedence.
Simpson said that it was the lack of this element that most players complained about. So it seemed to make more sense to add to functional NPCs than wild animals. The developer admitted, however, that the implementation of NPCs will not be an easy task and will probably be spread over several updates. He also stated that players will have to wait a bit longer for them.
Next, the creators intend to expand the technology tree and offer more crafting options. This applies in particular to the endgame. This phase of the game is poor in complex and rewarding activities such as building complex machines or other similar objects. For now, the developers do not know how exactly it will look like.
Both updates will be available before the full release of Project Zomboid. Fans, however, should arm themselves with patience. The game by The Indie Stone is a project developed very slowly. After all, more than a decade has passed since its debut in early access.
