Project Zomboid received another update as part of the beta tests for Build 42.

A new major update for the popular undead survival game launched in the "unstable version" in mid-December 2024, but it didn't include everything that players will get with the official release of the update. However, since then, the devs from The Indie Stone studio released two patches that have improved the PZ beta with extra features.

It's no different in version 42.3.0. The new patch gives players a taste of changes in the crafting system, which will allow them to recreate item creation recipes from pre-made objects. This is just a "first draft" of this mechanic, but it ensures that players won't be completely reliant on chance (meaning: hoping to find the "recipe" they need in the game world).

Besides that, players were pleased with the new types of vans, such as mobile libraries offering a new method to obtain skill books, along with small yet important improvements to the targeting system and balance (including immediate access to certain recipes for specific classes). Of course, there are also fixes related to the technical layer of the game (among other things, a bug that prevented the installation of rain collectors has been repaired).

The full list of fixes is available in the post published by The Indie Stone team on Steam and the developer's official forum.
