Project Warlock 2 Announced; Steam Early Access Launch Date
Project Warlock 2, the sequel to the successful retro FPS, is coming. The game will debut in Steam Early Access next month.
- Developer: Buckshot Software
- Publisher: Retrovibe
- Genre: FPS
- Platform: PC
- Early Access release date: July 29, 2021.
One of the projects announced at the PC Gaming Show turned out to be Project Warlock 2, a continuation of the popular retro FPS. The Polish studio Buckshot Software is responsible for the production, the same team that developed the first installment from 2018.
The early version of the game will go on sale in Steam Early Access on 29 July this year, offering one of the three planned campaign episodes. Project Warlock 2 was announced exclusively for PC, but the first installment saw a console port after some time, so we wouldn't be surprised if the sequel also gets one.
The game will tell the story of three disciples of the sorcerer, who was the protagonist of the first Project Warlock. Each of them will have unique abilities and weapons and will receive their own episode consisting of six large levels. Completing one of them will take at least an hour.
The first game was modeled on Wolfenstein 3D so the maps were completely flat. The sequel is to offer levels that are much more expanded vertically. The game will be diversified by the system of upgrading our arsenal, thanks to which each of the wizards will receive a choice of over twenty types of weapons.
The role of magic will also be increased. In the original it was of little use, and in the sequel each character will receive three renewable special abilities. The AI of enemies will also be expanded. Opponents will be able to jump, retreat, perform rolls and use a variety of attacks. The game will also enable us to create saves while completing levels, while the original game saved progress only after completing the entire map.
