Project Warlock II Description
Project Warlock II is a retro first-person shooter. Game was developed by Polish studio Buckshot Software, which is the same team that created the first part from 2018.
Plot
The game tells the story of three students of the sorcerer, who was the protagonist of the first Project Warlock. The action begins when one of them wakes up in his bedroom in the castle. He quickly discovers that his master has disappeared and the entire fortress has been overrun by demons. So he grabs a gun and goes to deal with the monsters while trying to discover what actually happened.
Mechanics
Just like the original, Project Warlock 2 is a retro FPS, inspired by the hits released in the 90s. The fun comes down to exploring large maps and fighting hordes of monsters.
In comparison with the first part, developers have introduced many changes and improvements. The first game was inspired by Wolfenstein 3D, so the maps were completely flat. The sequel offers much more vertically expanded levels. Another novelty is the presence of three playable characters in the game. Each of them has unique abilities and weapons and received its own episode consisting of six large maps. It takes at least an hour to get through one of them. The game is enriched by the system of arsenal upgrading, thanks to which each sorcerer can choose from more than twenty types of weapons.
The role of magic has also been strengthened. In the original it was not very useful, and in the sequel each character has three renewable special abilities. The AI of enemies has also been improved. Opponents are now able to jump, retreat, perform rolls and use a variety of attacks. In addition, the production allows you to create saves as you progress through the level, while the original only saved progress after completing the entire map.
Game modes
The game offers a single player campaign only.
Technical aspects
Project Warlock II features 3D graphics done in a retro style. It refers to classic games from the 90s, offering pixelated textures and hard-edged characters, which altogether gives quite a charming final effect.
