Possible Terrorist Attack on Ubisoft Montreal HQ [Updated]
The Canadian branch of Ubisoft in Montreal was attacked by unknown perpetrators. Some of the employees barricaded themselves in the office rooms and on the roof of the building. The police have surrounded the area.
Update
The Montreal police have issued a statement on the case. During the evacuation of the office staff, the police found no traces of any possible danger. They police arrived after having received an anonymous phone call. There is a high probability that the whole situation was fabricated by an unknown perpetrator and we are dealing with a false alarm. These suspicions may be confirmed that so far there are no witnesses who have seen or heard of possible aggressors.
Original message
The Canadian media are reporting of a possible terrorist attack on Ubisoft headquarters in Montreal. The number of aggressors and their motives are not yet officially known. However, we are sure that some of the office workers have taken refuge in the conference rooms and barricaded themselves on the roof of the building, as we can see in the video recorded from the police helicopter. According to the information shared on social networks, they have followed the safety protocols and do not know what is really happening. There are no reports of possible victims either, but there is talk of hostages being taken and the perpetrator(s) demanding ransom.
The police have already cut off the vicinity of the office and brought armed anti-terrorist units that are preparing to intervene. The Montreal office of Ubisoft, which has been operating since 1993, employs a total of 3500 people. Journalists present on site point out that there are also other companies operating in the same office building, so it is still possible that the attack is not directly related to the French developer.
