Fall Guys Goes Big on Steam With Over 10 Million Copies Sold
In September, Fall Guys recorded a phenomenal success. By the end of the third quarter, Mediatonic's game sold 10 million copies on Steam, thus improving its excellent result from August.
As every year, the turn of October and November brought with it financial reports of game developer and publishers. Creators of the popular Unity engine also published their report, mentioning the biggest hits of the past fiscal quarter, developed using their technology. Among them was Fall Guys by Mediatonic, which sold 10 million copies on Steam between July and September.
This result would be delightful even for many high-budget titles, and for a modest independent game it is a huge success. Let's mention that 7 million copies were reported to have been sold on Steam by the last days of August. In other words, about 3 million copies were purchased in September alone. This is all the more important because the popularity of Fall Guys has already dropped significantly. The statistics for October 1 clearly showed that Mediatonic's game has seen better times. Nevertheless, Fall Guys did much better in September on Steam alone than many multiplatform titles for their release. Let's not forget that this is also the most downloaded game in PlayStation Plus' history.
Of course, the continued popularity of Fall Guys remains a great unknown. The second season's launch has encouraged some gamers to return, and we'll probably hear about more attractions soon. We may also see releases for other hardware platforms, such as ninth-generation consoles. Even if this is not enough to maintain the interest in the title, the team at Mediatonic can be proud of the success of their game so far.
