Free Version of Fall Guys Drew in Tens of Millions of People
Fall Guys' transition to a free-to-play model has been a huge success. The developers revealed the number of players in the first 48 hours after implementing the change.
One of the video game hits of 2020, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, has switched to the free-to-play model a few days ago. At the same time, the title disappeared from Steam - on PC you can only download it from Epic Games Store - but it appeared on XOne, XSX/S, PS5 and Switch (previously it was only available on PC and PS4).
This rather surprising decision by studio Mediatonic and Devolver Digital turned out to be a bull's eye. The creators bragged yesterday on the game's dedicated Twitter account (below) that within the first forty-eight hours of implementing the change Fall Guys attracted 20 million players. The number is quite impressive - so it's no surprise that the devs thanked the community for such high interest.
