Fall Guys Breaks Records; Other Free Games Left in the Dust
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout's switch to free-to-play model proved to be a bullseye. The game is gaining players faster than Call of Duty: Warzone, Apex Legends and Fortnite: Battle Royale.
On June 21 Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout switched to free-to-play model. The developers at Mediatonic have just boasted the latest results of the project, and they are insanely impressive.
- Within two weeks of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout's free-to-play version release the game was played by more than 50 million people.
- This result includes players on PC as well as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X. It is worth mentioning here that the paid version of the game was only available on PC and PS4.
- Earlier, the developers boasted 20 million players who joined the game within 48 hours of the release of the free-to-play version.
- The game is enjoying these successes, despite the fact that players complain loudly about the overpriced microtransactions.
- 50 million players in two weeks is one of the best results in the history of free-to-play games on PC and consoles.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout debuted as a paid title in August 2020 on PC and PS4. This incarnation of the game was also a huge success - more than 11 million copies were sold only on Steam. On PS4, the game was initially available as part of a PS Plus subscription, and the project quickly became the the most downloaded title in the history of this service..
In March 2021, Mediatonic, the studio responsible for the game, was bought by Epic Games, but for a long time the title was still available on Steam. It disappeared from the service's offer only after the transition to a free-to-play model (now the PC edition can only be purchased through Epic Games Store). At the same time, the game debuted on Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X consoles. The title offers a cross-play option, enabling owners of different platforms to play together.
