PoE 2 Mektul the Forgemaster in Molten Vault may be bugged
Watch out during fight with Mektul the Forgemaster in Act 3 of PoE 2. The lava river in the Molten Vault can get blocked if the boss gets stuck.
Path of Exile 2, a strong competitor to the Diablo series, has finally launched in early access. Despite initial server issues and co-op crashes and performance problems, things seem to be running smoothly now, letting players dive back into the game. That is, until they try to find Undamaged Core in Aggorat or reach the Molten Vault and face Mektul the Forgemaster, where a bug can unfortunately ruin the fight.
Mektul the Forgemaster in Molten Vault in PoE 2
During Act 3 of Path of Exile 2, Oswald tasks you with exploring the Molten Vault in the Treasures of Utzaal quest. After successfully locating the monkey statues, you gain access to the vault. Near the checkpoint, can encounter Mektul the Forgemaster who releases a lava river, which can be stopped after his death. The fight is on a timer, as the lava gradually fills the area and will eventually kill your character.
The boss is relatively slow and can be taken down easily with ranged attacks. As you chip away his health bar, Mektul will occasionally retreat into the lava to unleash special attacks. So just dodge the fireballs, wait for him to re-emerge, and try to stun him to gain the upper hand.
The real problem with this fight is when Mektul gets stuck in the upper half of the lava and dies there. This prevents you from accessing the loot he drops, including the Hammer of Kamas, which is crucial for completing the Treasures of Utzaal quest. Even if you use a portal to return to the area, you won’t be able to access it again, as the crane that lowers you into the river stops functioning. So, until this bug is fixed, try to lure the boss out of the lava, and defeat him on the ground.
It's important to keep in mind that PoE 2 is still in early access, so bugs and glitches are to be expected.
