Sony Will Give Away Free Games and Other Prizes in PlayStation Stars Loyalty Program

Sony has announced that it is working on a loyalty program called PlayStation Stars. As part of it, PS4 and PS5 players will be able to earn games, rewards and PS Store credit.

It turns out that the three-edition PS Plus is not the only offer Sony is preparing for gamers this year. Today the company announced that it is working on a loyalty program called PlayStation Stars. It is set to launch later this year and will enable PS4 and PS5 users to earn games, rewards and PS Store credit.

  • Joining PlayStation Stars will be free.
  • One of the activities - dubbed "Monthly Check-In" - is to require playing any game at least once a month.
  • Others will involve winning tournaments, earning certain achievements or a platinum trophy in a particular game as the first player in a certain region.

Performing individual activities - as well as PS Store purchases - is to be rewarded with loyalty points, which can be exchanged for, among other things:

  • PSN account recharges - funds will be available for PS Store purchases;
  • selected products from the PS Store - implied games and DLC;
  • "digital collectibles" - figurines of game characters (and more); and various models of "old" Sony consoles.

This last "attraction" looks like NFT on paper. However, Gren Chen - director of advertising, loyalty and licensed products of the Japanese company - strongly denied this in an interview for The Washington Post.

It's worth noting that this is only the initial idea for the PlayStation Stars program. Sony assures that the offer will evolve in the future.
