Playerunknown's Battleground earns $11 million in three days
Bluehole Studios shared some impressive facts regarding Playerunknown's Battleground. In the three days since its Steam Early Access launch the game earned $11 million.
Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has proved to be a big success already – in just three days since its Steam Early Access launch on March 23 the game earned USD 11 million, Bluehole Studios announced. In the hottest moment there were over 67,000 people playing Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds at the same time. According to SteamSpy data, the game has sold more than 332,000 copies so far. It has even been briefly the best selling game on Steam – until Grand Theft Auto V went on a 50% sale. The title is also very popular on Twitch, where over 150,000 concurrent viewers were spotted watching videos from the game.
What makes Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds so popular? The game features Battle Royale type of gameplay, but what makes it stand out from the crowd is the fact that this one is developed by Brendan Greene, a.k.a. Playerunknown, that is the man who started the trend by releasing Battle Royale mods for Arma II and Arma III. The popularity of these mods resulted in a wave of games of the kind, including The Culling, ARK: Survival of the Fittest or H1Z1: King of the Kill – the latter was also co-developed by Greene.
So far the Early Access version of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has been receiving very positive Steam users reviews. The full game is planned to launch within six months.
