Perception – New Horror Game From Former Creators Of Bioshock And Dead Space
The Deep End Games has announced a new FPP horror production – Perception, in which the player will assume the role of a blind woman named Cassie.
Right now there’s no shortage of amazing horror games characterized by a terrifying atmosphere and a top-notch technical side, which won the hearts of thousands of players worldwide. This already large family of creepy productions will probably soon be joined by another title. Co-creators of BioShock, BioShock Infinite, and Dead Space, now centered around the new studio The Deep End Games, have announced Perception, first-person horror in which we take on the role of Cassie Thornton, a woman suffering from loss of sight.
The first important information about the production is the fact that its creators decided to ask gamers for financial backing. To this end, they launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, asking for USD 150,000. As of now, they’ve managed to collect more than USD 32,000, and this seems to indicate a positive outcome of the whole effort, since there’s still as many as 29 days left until the end.
As for the game itself, we’re going to play as a blind woman named Cassie, tormented by nightmares associated with a residence she inherited. The heroine decides to go to the abandoned mansion and discovers that the house has been invaded by a mysterious presence. The woman, despite her loss of sight, decides to solve the mystery, using her cane for this purpose; by tapping it and using the echolocation effect Cassie can see the world around her to some extent and, if necessary, escape dangerous situations. But here’s a catch – each additional sound can lure the abovementioned presence and, subsequently, increase the risk of rapid death.
Following the trends introduced by the latest, incredibly popular productions of this genre, Perception won’t include typical combat. In the face of imminent danger, our protagonist will be forced to seek shelter at all costs. What’s interesting, during the game Cassie will be able to travel in time and see how the residence she’s visiting looked like many years ago and how it changed from generation to generation.
At this point, Perception is designed exclusively for PC and will debut in June 2016. It is possible, however, that the game will come to other platforms as well – everything will depend on the accumulated budget. For example, reaching the level of USD 350,000 will result in the virtual reality technology support for PC.
