The developers of Elden Ring have released a new patch 1.14 for the expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, which in June expanded the Lands Between with the Land of Shadow. The Japanese have chosen to significantly weaken the powerful opponent in the final boss of the expansion, which should be particularly pleasing to players struggling with him (don't worry, we won't reveal his identity in the message).

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree - final boss nerfed in update 1.14

Since the expansion's release in June 2024, many fans have complained about the high difficulty level of boss fights, especially the final one. So it's not surprising that different methods of cheating this formidable enemy have begun to appear online - some players have shown how to bypass him or how to "bore" him to death.

FromSoftware studio likely observed these minor "exploits" and opted to slightly ease the completion of the expansion for Elden Ring fans by making some changes to the final battle. Here are a few important changes to the final boss of the expansion:

  1. he will have different action pattern when the battle starts;
  2. some of his attacks will be appropriately adapted and improved;
  3. some of his attacks will inflict less damage;
  4. he will inflict weaker attacks that reduce our stamina;
  5. he will have a more limited range of non-weapon-based attacks;
  6. the visibility of some attack effects will be improved.

Patch 1.14 also improved the balance in other aspects of gameplay

FromSoftware studio has emphasized that downloading the discussed update is necessary for online gaming. So if you haven't defeated the final boss yet and want to do it without making the job easier, it's worth holding off on downloading the patch.

Patch 1.14 doesn't focus solely on this extremely difficult opponent. The developers also improved the balance in PvP mode, including reducing the damage dealt to other players by Backhand Blades and Pata. The gameplay balance has also undergone significant changes, encompassing a variety of other weapons such as swords or katanas. It's worth paying special attention to the fact that the speed of the first heavy blow in a series (R2/RT on the pad) has been increased for several types of weapons. The detailed description of patch 1.14 on Bandai Namco's official website contains the complete list of changes in this area.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that the list of fixes includes specific spells (such as Rellana's Twinblade) and incantations. Of course, there were also the usual bug fixes and advice on what to do in case of potential poor performance.
