Palworld May Be Coming to PS5. Meantime, Devs Face Threats
Recent posts on the web seem to indicate that Palworld may also be coming to PlayStation in some time. But for now, the developers have another problem: numerous threats against the studio.
Palworld is on a winning streak in its grand task to conquer PCs and Microsoft consoles. Latest internet chatter suggest there is also a chance that the game could come to PlayStation. At least that is what a post from Shuhei Yoshida, formerly the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, now the head of PlayStation Indies, has mentioned.
When Palworld passed the mark of 2 million copies sold (this has already been surpassed three times), the creators thanked the players for their support in an entry on the X platform. One of the responses was from their own CEO, Takuro Mizobe , and among the internet users congratulating there was Shuhei Yoshida.
Most of these entries were lacking in words - the former one was basically limited to "Congratulations". Nevertheless, the interest of the PlayStation representative caught the attention of the players. One of them asked Yoshida for "support", i.e. convincing SIE to bring Palworld to PS5 as soon as possible.
The executive's second post was also frugal. Yoshida responded to the internet user's request with a short "Yes" - and tagged Jingwen Zhu, Sony's Partner Development Manager for China and Japan.
Of course, this is in no way a binding announcement, but it was enough to give PlayStation 5 (and PlayStation 4) owners hope to get their hands on Palworld as soon as possible.
However, there are also skeptics who pointed to an entry from one of the creators from June. Bucky, Pocketpair's community manager, mentioned in it that their new game won't be coming to PlayStation.
However, recently Bucky corrected that his older post did not mean that Palworld would never appear on Sony consoles. The team simply didn't have such plans for now, but they might consider it in the future. This is also confirmed by the announcement posted on Steam before the start of early access.
By the way: Bucky is literally flooded with messages from players. Unfortunately, these include a lot of threats (including death) against Pocketpair employees, among them character artists due to allegations of plagiarism in creature designs.
It came to the point that Mizobe himself warned Internet users not to target the developers, as it was he who was responsible for Palworld at every stage of production (via website X ). In turn, Bucky corrected the rumors that some of these messages were sent by console fans - either Xbox fans, who were dissatisfied with the poorer performance of the game on these devices, or PlayStation fans, due to the game not being released on Sony platforms.
