One Dev Makes Dark and Brutal Action RPG Inspired by Hexen Over Three Years
If you're a fan of the iconic Hexen series, then you should keep a close eye on the development of VOIN, an action RPG that seems inspired by the timeless masterpiece from Raven Software's studio.
An intriguing first-person action RPG was announced yesterday. VOIN - because this is the title of the game in question - is a game developed in cooperation with the publishing company tinyBuild and developer Nikita Sozidar.
You are one of the elemental servants created by a powerful mage to fulfil one purpose: become a formidable weapon in the hands of your mysterious creators and join the quest to cleanse the world of a devastating plague that has consumed all life - we read in the description on Steam.
While playing, we will encounter not only "waves of foes in skill and reaction-based combat" but also learn to control "primitive elements" while exploring a "dark fantasy world full of secrets and dangers."
As Sozidar explained in a recent post on Valve's platform, the idea for VOIN was born out of the need to create a game that offered "freedom of exploration, deep character customization, and good first-person combat."
A characteristic element of VOIN is its pixel style reminiscent of classic titles such as those from the Hexen series. Interested? You can watch the first trailer below, showcasing the results of Sozidar's work of over 3 years.
Unfortunately, it hasn't been revealed when we can expect the release of VOIN. However, those who are impatient can take part in the tests scheduled for March 8 on Steam.
