No Rest for the Wicked Dev Is Already Thinking about Third Installment of Ori Series
Although, in theory, the story of the Ori series is completed, it remains possible that Moon Studios will create its next installments.
In 2015, Moon Studios released the lovely platform game Ori and the Blind Forest. Warmly received by players, a few years later the title was followed by a sequel subtitled Will of the Wisps. Despite the theoretical conclusion of the story of the forest spirit, fans of these games would definitely be happy to see a third installment.
In an interview for Game Informer, the co-founder of Moon Studios (which is currently working on the action RPG No Rest for the Wicked), Gennadiy Korol, admitted that he was satisfied with how the platformer series ended. He claims that the two games form a complete whole, and Ori 3 could only come into existence if the team had more stories to tell.
Even more interesting is the fact that Thomas Mahler, CEO of the Austrian studio, has several ideas for what the third installment could look like. This doesn't imply that another game starring Ori is in the works, as even Gennadiy Karol was surprised by the developer's words.
I have a title for it [a new game from the Ori series] already. I have some ideas, but so far, right now, we are completely focused on No Rest for the Wicked for the time being -- said the CEO of Moon Studios.
Developers would face a significant challenge in developing a third installment, especially considering the outcome of Will of the Wisps. However, it's possible that in the future the developers may choose to release a spin-off platform game, given that the CEO of the studio already has the beginnings of a vision.
For now, we have to wait for the release of the soulslike No Rest for the Wicked, which is currently a priority for Moon Studios. The game is set to debut on April 18 in early access on PC, and will later be available on PS5 and XSX/S.
