Despite the fact that the Nintendo Switch 2 event tickets are non-transferable, scalpers are still trying to sell them online for nearly a thousand dollars.

As confirmations arrive about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Experiences being held around the world this Spring, it’s no surprise to anyone that scalpers are getting involved. Originally reported by GamesRadar+, scalpers have been spotted online attempting to sell their Nintendo Switch 2 experience tickets for $900. This is far beyond even the higher estimate for what it will cost to buy a Nintendo Switch 2. This probably goes without saying, but do not fall for this sale. It may not even be possible.

Nintendo Switch 2 experience tickets are already being sold by scalpers, despite Nintendo’s efforts

After the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this month, many are excited to learn more. The internet is full of all kinds of theories about what kinds of features the new console will have. One strong theory suggests that the new Joy-Con controllers will be able to function like a computer mouse. Nintendo is planning to host a Direct all about the second Switch on April 2nd, shortly followed by events where anyone can get their hands on the new console.

Signups for the events only lasted until January 26th, and emails started going out on Monday to let applicants know if they are invited to attend or not. Waitlists are expected to become available today to give everyone a second chance at attending, but of course, this does not guarantee a spot. With so much hype and excitement, it’s not surprising that scalpers have taken to sites like eBay to begin selling tickets to the events for outrageous prices.

Nintendo even goes out of its way to explain on the FAQ section of its site that “event tickets are non-transferrable and one-time use only.” But that has not discouraged scalpers from trying to take advantage of the situation.

Scalpers are an all-too-familiar problem when it comes to scarce tickets and products, especially in gaming. Last September, the launch of the PlayStation 5 30th Anniversary Edition sold out in seconds and resulted in scalpers re-selling the limited-edition console online for thousands of dollars. A major concern with the announcement of Nintendo’s next console, is how they might try to combat scalpers. These special event tickets could be a sign of what’s to come.

For now, anyone who didn’t get an original ticket will have to hope they get lucky with the waitlist. Otherwise, we will have to be patient to get our hands on the console when it is released to the public. Hopefully the wait won’t be long.
