New PS Plus Available in Select Countries; First Impressions

New PS Plus has made its debut in selected countries. The first impressions of the service can be found online.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • New versions of PS Plus have debuted in Asia;
  • The service has an extensive library of games, which includes Ubisoft Classics;
  • The subscription also offers many new features for retro games;

Two months after the new version of PS Plus was announced, it has debuted in some Asian countries. The service is available in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan.

The first videos showing how the subscription works quickly appeared online. We also got to know some additional features that were not previously announced.

An extensive library with a few surprises

Videos posted on YouTube enable us to take a closer look at the complete PS Plus library. It is quite long to begin with and contains all the titles whose presence was announced a week ago.

Among the available games you will also find Ubisoft games from the Ubisoft Classics collection. We reported about the cooperation between the French publisher and Sony at the beginning of last week.

The list also includes the first surprises. The library will include previously unannounced Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee from PS1, and Ridge Racer 2 from PSP. So the offer started expanding already at the time of the launch.

New features and trophies

PS Plus also offers novelties for fans of old games that remember the times of the first PlayStation. Such games enable us to adjust the resolution (native, 4:3 or 16:9) to our liking.

You can also change the filter of the displayed image - the options include default, retro and modern modes. The latter is the most interesting, because it imitates the display style of old CRT screens.

If you've been dreaming of replacing your modern 8K UHD TV with an old CRT monitor, PS Plus will give you that opportunity. In addition to this, the aforementioned games will receive many smaller improvements, such as a quick save option.

However, that is not all. Some old productions have also received trophies. Thanks to this, playing them again can be even more rewarding.

All in all, it looks like PS Plus could be a service that will appeal to fans of retro games.
