New Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Trailer Reveals New Legendary Pokemon
The latest trailer for the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet showed off several new Pokemon along with some exciting features and a release date.
The Pokemon Company released the second trailer for the upcoming Scarlet and Violet games. The trailer had a lot to show off, from the new legendary Pokemon to a release date. The official Pokemon website has more details about the reveals, but you can watch the new trailer below.
The trailer featured several new non-legandary Pokemon as well, including the electric type mouse Pokemon Pawmi, the normal type hog Pokemon Lechonk, and the grass and normal type Smoliv. These will likely be some of the first few Pokemon players can encounter in these new games.
The new legendary Pokemon are two intimidating dragons, Koraidon and Miraidon. These legends seem to hint at a major theme between the two games, with Miraidon sporting a very futuristic, robotic design. It seems that one game will focus on themes of tradition or the past, while the other will focus on innovation or the future. Of course this is just speculation at this point, but the aesthetics seem to also continue to the two professors, Sada and Turo.
On the official Pokemon website, the games were also described as open-world, a term that was avoided in the marketing for the previous game, Pokemon Legends Arceus. This time around the descriptions seem to be leaning into the idea of an open-world RPG much more, with the website stating:
A world that you’re free to explore at your leisure and not in an order dictated by the story…”
…which is a significant departure from most previous Pokemon titles.
Players will also be able to play alongside up to three friends, exploring the world together. This sounds like a major change, though the extent of what this means is yet to be fully understood. The last few moments of the trailer also revealed that Scarlet and Violet will release on November 18th of this year, with digital preorders available now, so the wait won’t be too long for the new Pokemon games.
