New Patch for CoD: Modern Warfare and Warzone Consumes Even More Disk Space
The latest update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone require us to download a lot of data. The game is taking up more and more disk space, and players complain that such changes should not require downloading such huge files.
- The latest update for CoD: Modern Warfare and Warzone requires a lot of additional HDD space;
- The games take up more and more disk space - MW + multiplayer and standalone Warzone require almost 200 GB;
- Players complain that relatively small changes require so much data to be downloaded.
Yesterday, a new patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was released, as well as its independent battle royal mode - Warzone. The update introduced a few changes to both games (among others, Armor Boxes that restore the armor of entire team in Warzone or a new set of weapons available in Gulag). However, the biggest attention of the players was drawn by the size of the patch, which once again makes the game take up more and more space on their disks.
According to the provided information, the latest changes to Warzone alone require us to download a 20GB patch on PlayStation 4, 31GB on Xbox One and 26GB on PC (plus an additional 4GB for players who also have Modern Warfare). This means that having Warzone on disk alone takes up about 100GB of space at this point (although it should be noted that old files are simply replaced to a large extent). Many players complain not only about the huge size of the new patches, but also about the fact that some of them have to download everything from scratch when updating. In places with worse access to a stable internet, this means waiting for a long time to be able to play again.
However, the owners of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (including multiplayer and Warzone mode) have to reckon with the fact that at this moment the game takes up almost 200 GB. This is, for example, far too much for console players, especially when would like to have some other titles on disk as well. In a Reddit thread on the update, users keep wondering how the introduction of several maps and new models may require such an amount of data.
"I don't understand how adding two maps, few new models (armor pack etc.) and balancing can amount to 31 GB!," wonders shakes76.
"My friends are legit about to quit this game because it's taking their entire hard drive up. I'm nervous this will be the one. They have legit been playing cod and RDR2 and soon they'll have to pick between the 2. 2! 2 fucking games...," writes Refreshinglycold.
"Been saying they do it on purpose so you're forced to delete other games. So stupid," sums up Goop1995.
Call of Duty: Warzone debuted on March 10 and is available on PCs, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. More than 60 million players have already played the game as of early May. Recently, we have also found out that the game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
