New Game From Night in the Woods Devs has Been Canceled
The Glory Society has announced the cancellation of Revenant Hill. The reason is the serious illness of two key employees.
Night in the Woods is a warmly received and award-winning indie game that captivated players with its interesting storyline, accessible gameplay, atmosphere or distinctive visuals. It's no wonder, then, that many people have been waiting for Revenant Hill, the spiritual successor to the independent hit. Unfortunately, The Glory Society has announced the cancellation of the project.
Revenant Hill canceled
The Glory Society has published a rather dramatic= announcement - you can find it on Twitter/X and on the official website of the studio. We learn from it that two key employees had to withdraw due to serious illness and the developer will not be able to complete the highly anticipated game.
The studio thanked the employees and everyone who believed in them. The post also reads that after some time, when the dust settles, perhaps they will get together and talk about what they have learned. From the wording of the message, it appears that at the same time as the cancellation of the game, the operations of the entire studio will be halted.
Players commenting on the post on Twitter are surprised and do not hide their regret, but they also express understanding towards the developer and point out that health comes first.
To the matter addressed one of the employees, who wrote on Twitter/X:
"So. Over the past 12 months or so I got very sick and it didn't go away. Eventually I was diagnosed with severe heart failure, most likely from a virus. It will continue to greatly limit me for the foreseeable future and as such I've had to stop working in the manner I once did."
The difficult history of the founding of The Glory Society
The story of the founding of The Glory Society began, so to speak, with a tragic event. Alec Holowka, one of the creators of Night in the Woods probably took how own shortly after being accused of physical and psychological violence against female employees of the original studio. In 2019, The Glory Societywas established, founded by Scott Benson, Bethany Hockenberry and musician Wren Farren. The group decided to work without any authority "from above," and every member of the team was to have equal rights in the studio.
Revenant Hill was announced on May 24, 2023. You can watch the game's trailer below.
