Mortal Kombat 11 Support Ends; NetherRealm Will Focus on a New Game

Mortal Kombat 11 will not receive any more DLCs. NetherRealm announced that they are ending support for the game and focusing on a new project.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. NetherRealm announced the end of support for Mortal Kombat 11;
  2. The developer will focus on a new project.

Mortal Kombat 11 will no longer receive support from NetherRealm. The developers announced on Twitter that they are moving on to a new project. In the two years since its launch, 12 new characters have been added to the game, the story expansion Aftermath and countless patches have been released.

It has not been revealed at this point what exactly NetherRealm will be doing. Rumors have been circulating for some time that the studio may be working on a fighting game based on Marvel's license. Another, more likely option is work on the third part of the Injustice series which, by the way, will be adapted to a movie by Warner Bros. Entertainment.

An interesting summary on Twitter was prepared the user Kotality, who shortly after the announcement of the end of support for Mortal Kombat 11 shared an infographic showing how long after the release various fighting games received new content. MK11 falls, to put it mildly, not among the best.
