EA Doesn't Plan a Sequel to Mirror's Edge
One tweet from the official account of EA France was enough for fans of the Mirror's Edge series to start rubbing their hands in glee with the thought of a sequel. However, the company denied the emerging rumors about a new game.
- EA France's Twitter post raised the hopes of Mirror's Edge fans;
- Some of them considered the published graphics to be an announcement of a new installment;
- However, the company revealed that its intention was not to announce a game.
On April 9, EA France shared a seemingly innocent post on Twitter. It was a pixelated photo with the caption "Who recognizes this game?". Many users immediately guessed what title it was about. It was a graphic from Mirror's Edge. This discovery has raised the hopes of fans of the series, who recognized the riddle as a teaser of the next installment.
There were so many such voices that EA France decided that the situation should be clarified as soon as possible. In response to the original post they added a comment with a clear message.
"So, it's not a tease, just a game. If we tease something one day, you'll understand it right away, don't worry!"
So it looks like fans' hopes were an over-interpretation. At least officially, EA isn't working on the next installment of Mirror's Edge. The company's decisive reaction may also suggest that EA don't want fans to get excited by the prospect of a sequel. It's possible we'll see Faith Connors again at some point, though, as the company was reportedly pleased with sales of Mirror 's Edge Catalyst.
